He is a member of the 2008-09 planning commission of cultural development (special area: youth) of Baja California. Guitierrez's main interest is to work with elements and surroundings that are typically ignored. He explores diverse techniques and forms, and works with recycled and alternative materials.
He seeks to change pretty paintings for paintings that narrates the real world; a place were plastic is inhaled, and the trivial is priority; where political and commercial propaganda lead to a path of imaginary prosperity.
